Elaine grew up in Buckinghamshire and trained at the Arts Educational School, Tring and the Central School of Ballet, London before joining Northern Ballet Theatre under the direction of Christopher Gable. This was followed by five years dancing as a soloist with the NAPAC Dance Company in Durban, South Africa.
After returning to London Elaine continued to perform in a number of dance projects and was intrigued to discover the Gyrotonic method, beginning her teacher training with Gina Muensterkoetter in Germany in 1999, followed by many years of study with the systems creator Juliu Horvath. She soon joined forces with her close friend Beatriz Pascual and after a number of years teaching in London they both qualified as Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis Master Trainers teaching regular teacher trainings in London and other locations in the UK and Europe.
Her interest in exploring other innovative movement systems led Elaine to qualify as a Yamuna Body Rolling instructor in 2019.
Beatriz was born and trained in Spain. After graduating from the Real Escuela de Arte Dramatico y Danza de Madrid she danced in Spain, Belgium and CAPAB in Cape Town, South Africa and as a guest artist in Japan, the USA and the UK.
It was during a dance project in New York in 1996 that she first came into contact with the Gyrotonic system through its inventor Juliu Horvath. She then trained with him and came back to the UK to open the first Gyrotonic studio in London.
After seven years she joined forces with Elaine and they both started collaborating as Master Trainers giving regular trainings and workshops. She also gives teacher trainings in her home country of Spain.
Beatriz is also a dance coach and Zena Rommett Floor Barre teacher, plus was the founder and artistic director of ARtelier, a forum for independent artists.
